INTERVIEW ON THE PRICE OF BUSINESS SHOW, MEDIA PARTNER OF THIS SITE.
Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed Frederick Kaufman.
On a recent Price of Business, Host Kevin Price visited with Frederick Kaufman about his book, The Money Plot.
Primitive money is material: It’s a feather, it’s a bead. Over time, it becomes metaphorical — paper money, a promissory note, an ETF. Today only about 5% to 10% of money in the world exists in material form. So one may be tempted to say the end game is cryptocurrency, which has no material form whatsoever, yet possesses all the attributes of primitive money: It’s security and our hope for the future—just like earlier versions of money, from shells made of ostrich eggs to wives and slaves. Frederick Kaufman discusses the essential attributes of what makes money money in his most recent book, The Money Plot.
Kaufman is a professor of English and Journalism at the College of Staten Island, received his B.A. from Yale and a Ph.D. in English from The Graduate Center.
