The Pillars of Champions: Calling, Heart, Altitude, Mindset, and Performance

Posted on June 30, 2021July 2, 2021 by David Jackson

Kyle Sullivan, the CEO of Unleash the Champ, reveals five essential pillars of champions. Without these, succeeding becomes improbable since you are hampering yourself from propelling forward. That said, Kyle elaborates on these five pillars to help you unleash the champ within!

Calling

Kyle believes that every single person on planet earth has a unique calling in life. Often you are in a state of confusion, and you question what you are doing and why you are doing these things. You get used to the same mundane routine you follow without really maximizing your calling, or worse, you have no idea what your calling is. If that’s the case, then you should ask yourself, “What am I good at?” or “What could I do everyday without getting tired of it?” and wonder how that can leave a lasting impact. These questions are great to get started on the identification process of calling. Once you have identified what you were called to do, you can navigate your way to fulfilling it. The first pillar will serve as the foundation to the other pillars towards becoming a champion. Keep in mind that your assignment can look different, but your calling stays the same.

Heart

After realizing your calling, you must make the decision in your heart to collect all the commitment stored inside you to accomplish your calling. Your heart is responsible for protecting your calling through leveraging, maximizing, and enhancing different aspects of your life. Most of the time, your heart concerns itself with relationships. Arguably, the first relationship that you should keep in alignment with is yourself. Aside from that, you need to have somebody that is in your corner. It is also essential to have the emotional intelligence to know when you’re good or when you’re off and how to get back up. It also talks about how our heart is with other people, friendships, spouses, and kids. So ask yourself, “How am I leveraging my heart to build relationships with other people?”

Altitude

The third pillar is altitude. You have a calling and a heart; where do you go next? What is the vision? Imagine the altitude of where you want to take what you were called to be. Afterward, become, do, and experience that altitude to direct yourself to your desired destination. Kyle shares a quote he loves: “Don’t shoot for the stars when there’s the moon above. Shoot for the moon, and you’ll get the stars.” Ask yourself, “Do I know the trajectory that I need to get there?” If the altitude you have doesn’t excite you and scare you a bit, keep at it. Dream bigger.

Mindset

Everything rises and falls, but you have to believe it can happen to continue to rise. To improve your mindset, make sure that you are grateful for whatever circumstance you are in. Often, people think that opportunities, resources, and connections are the only means to expand, but it comes down to your belief. Do you believe that it can happen? Do you have that growth mindset? Ultimately, you must believe that your aspirations can happen. Even if you don’t feel it right now, your mindset will keep you grounded and moving forward long after the motivation to start has passed.

Performance

Lastly, there is performance. Knowing your calling, having a heart, recognizing altitude, and maintaining a growth mindset are useless when you do not act. You have to get things done because otherwise, you are left in a state of stagnation. Try to set measurable, attainable goals, benchmarks, and targets that you need to unleash the champ within you. You can imagine and visualize all day, but these remain futile without action. Nothing motivates like taking action. Nothing builds your confidence like taking action in the next right direction. Remember, done is better than perfect, so get moving and get your performance in line.
