5 Things You Should Know Before Applying For An Italian Investor Visa

Posted on January 12, 2022 by The Times USA News

Italy is one of the prime immigration destinations for high-net-worth Americans. It lets you in through an investor visa if you can afford to make a significant investment in the country. You need not worry about citizenship eligibility, lengthy processes, and complicated documentation. Just get your funding in place, pack your bags, and start a dream life in Italy with an investor visa. You can visit Bersani Law Firm for understanding more about this immigration alternative. Here are some things you must know before applying for an investor visa.

Eligibility is not a big deal

Aspiring immigrants looking forward to a fresh start in Italy have different immigration alternatives. You can explore citizenship by descent, marriage, or naturalization. While these alternatives open up citizenship benefits right away, they have stringent eligibility norms. Moreover, not everyone has an Italian bloodline or spouse. But things are much simpler with an investor visa. You can qualify if you are over 18, have a clean police record, and are in a good state of health.

Multiple investment options

Besides the basic eligibility requirements, you have to invest in Italy to qualify for an investor visa. While you may find the amount massive, there are multiple options to explore. You can begin with €250,000 as an investment in an innovative startup or go up to €500,000 with an existing company. A donation of €1 million in a public welfare project can get you in, while you may also buy government bonds worth €2 million.

Timelines are relatively short

The conventional citizenship routes can take years to complete. The long waiting queues at Italian consulates can test your patience as you may have to wait for several months or even a year to complete the process. But the process for an Italian investor visa takes only a couple of months to complete. You need not worry about queues and waiting periods if you have your funds and papers in place.

A two-step process gets you in

The investor visa process is easier than you imagine. It has only two steps- firstly, obtaining a nulla osta or certificate of no impediment and secondly, getting your investor visa. You can pursue both from your country, as nulla osta requires an online application, while the second half can be completed at your local consulate. You need not even invest the money until you land in Italy and get your residence permit.

Reach your citizenship goal

Another fact you must know about an Italian investor visa is that it is your ticket to citizenship. It qualifies you for a two-year residence permit right away, which you can renew for another three years. You get a permanent residence status after completing five years in the country. Another five years here makes you eligible for citizenship by naturalization. You can reach your goals eventually by following the right roadmap.

An Italian investor visa is an excellent option for aspiring immigrants looking for fast and easy access to life in Italy. Moreover, you can leverage it to become a citizen eventually.
