The Right Way to Trust Your Process

Posted on December 3, 2018December 3, 2018 by admin

As a business owner, leader or entrepreneur, has a coach ever said to you, “trust the process?” If so, this may be a good sign — they may be saying that what you’re doing will take you to where you want to go. But, unfortunately, it may also be just bad advice. They may be inviting you to engage in blind trust. Since the stakes are so high — in terms of your career and future — its imperative to ask if ‘trusting the process’ really works. From what I’ve seen over the years, the answer is yes and no.

Let’s look at ‘no’ first. I believe the answer is an overwhelming ’ NO’ if you have passive trust, meaning you are consciously or inadvertently handing the responsibility of the process to the process. In this case, your trust is passive.
Trust of all kinds needs to be active. It needs to mean that you will do everything in your power to move your project, work and even your life, forward. If trusting really means wishing you are setting yourself up for failure.
But if trusting the process means alignment and action, it is no longer passive. There are 3 steps to turning passive trust into active trust: 1. Purposefully align your intention with your desires. 2. Take the time to create a good strategy. 3. Move rigorously toward your clarified goals. When you take these three steps to turn passive trust into active trust extraordinary things begin occurring, like being in the right place at the right time, experiencing a higher flow and other valuable synchronicities. Active trust is met with invisible support. Some people call this phenomenon magic. I think of it as a natural outcome of powerfully engaging in creative flow.
Through alignment and action, I believe you can relax and trust in your process to meet your business and life goals. In fact, setting goals and developing strategy — with an awareness of how to meaningfully engage with creative flow — takes you to an altogether new level of proficiency. This level of mastery is what the best know, do and have to make their life and business ultra-successful.
