Rachel Arredondo was born and raised in Houston, Texas and attended Spring Woods High School. There, she was a part of theater and honors, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She went on to attend The University of Texas at Austin as a Biochemistry and Communications major. It was in Austin she discovered her love of research and communications, and pursued a communications minor, as well. She joined the Freshmen Research Initiative (FRI), did a year of research, and then got hired on as a peer mentor and lead communications coordinator. She then joined the High School Research Initiative (HRI) as a TA, and proceeded to bring research opportunities to high schools all around the Austin area. She also adopted a cat named Cassie in 2019, who is the highlight of her life. She graduated with the Class of 2020, and plans to pursue a job in the biotechnology field in Austin, Texas, before returning to graduate school in 2022. She obtained a BSA in biochemistry, she was lead mentor at the High School Research Initiative.
