5 Essential Tips to Picking the Perfect GPS Tracking Company

Posted on January 5, 2022 by The Times USA News

The world of fleet tracking has become harder to navigate, with more options than ever popping up left and right. One of the best options today for small and large fleets is One Step GPS. They provide a top-quality tracking software at only 13.95 a month, with no contracts, no equipment costs and an unheard of 100-day money back guarantee. They are also known for having the best customer service for fleet tracking.

I hope to shed some light on the most important factors when choosing a fleet tracking software so that fleet managers and business owners can focus on their business and make it easier to select the right choice. So, what are the most important factors?

#1 Reviews

Yes, this may seem like a no brainer but read the reviews. Especially read the reviews from people that seem like they used the product for more than a month. That is where you will find the most honesty and where a subscription-based company will show their true colors. Some GPS tracking companies have 30-day money back guarantees, so after that time has run out, they are less likely to provide the same customer service since now you are “locked in”.

It is also good to look at their reviews that are not on their website. Shopper Approved, Trustpilot, Software Advice or Capterra are great third-party sites where you can see reviews that might not be listed on a company’s website.

#2 Customer Service

I know, it’s hard to determine how good a company’s customer service is until after you have signed up. It’s far too often that I hear “Well they were great, until we had a problem!” Here’s how you avoid getting stuck with a company that’s just going to ignore you at the first sign of trouble.

How responsive are they? Do they have a chat on their website and how knowledgeable is the person that writes back? These are good questions to ask yourself and take note of how long it takes to get a real person on the line. Watch out for 24/7 customer service. This doesn’t always mean that the company is open for that amount of time, or that if you have a problem, the person they contracted in an outsourced offshore support department is going to have any idea what you are talking about. A lot of companies hire out for their “off hours” customer service, and this could end up making your issue take even longer to resolve. Plus, it is much more frustrating.

A great indication of customer service is in their return policy and whether they are locking you into any kind of contract. Tracking companies with a money back guarantee are far more likely to earn your business. And locking you into a contract just means they can take their time when you have a problem because you CAN’T leave.

#3 Features

If a company doesn’t have the features you need, then move on. That being said, features are not everything. Some Top GPS Companies have a Features List as long as a mother-of-4’s grocery receipt. But are you even going to use half of the things they are boasting about? So here is something else to consider: Do you really need to be paying more for these features you are never going to use?

So, before you get all impressed with the bells and whistles, you need to ask yourself a few questions. What do you really need this software to do? How are YOU going to interact with this software? Now, does it fit the bill?

#4 Minimums

Now that you have vetted the company and you know they can provide for you, you should be aware of minimums. Some companies will boast a low-price tag but it’s only if you sign up for a certain number of devices. It’s a short question to ask, so make use of the time it takes to say, “do you require a minimum number of devices?”

#5 Added Fees

Here is where a lot of companies fall short. “A fee for this and a fee for that, and while we’re at it pay for the tracking device. “

Yes, it might feel good to own your own tracker but with a technology advancing by the minute, that tracker could be out of date in less than a year. Always ask about added fees or required deposits.

Some companies will require a deposit if they don’t have contracts, or you don’t have to buy the equipment. That’s ok and perfectly normal, just make sure that the deposit is refundable with their money back guarantee.
